So How Do You Find Your Passion in Life?

If you’re wondering how to find your passion in life I feel for you. You know why? I was wondering that same thing for years and sometimes it really sucked not knowing the answer. As a matter of fact, sometimes it drove me freaking crazy! Maybe you can relate to that right now. For some it’s really easy to know exactly what they were meant to do, but for many it can be really confusing and super frustrating. And it gets more confusing when you realize that you have way more than just one passion. Which one is the one you should focus on?

I remember thinking “Man, I just want to do something that I love to do. Something that I know will help other people, and also provide me with enough money to live the kind of lifestyle I knew I wanted to live.” I knew that I really didn’t want to work for someone else. I wanted to have the freedom to work when I wanted to work and play when I wanted to play. I can tell you from personal experience, it’s all possible, and it is amazing. Guys, forget about money for a second too. If you identify your true passion and focus on how you can serve others, the money thing will fall into place for you.

Finding Your Passion

The truth is, finding your passion is actually a whole lot easier than you might think. And I think it’s safe to assume for this article that if you are wondering how to find your passion in life you might also be asking yourself “What job should I do?” or you’re wondering how to know what to do with your life.

You want to know how to figure that out? Follow your instinct! Yes, trust your gut! That’s the answer to every question you’ve ever had about what to do with your life. There’s a voice inside you that is always guiding you to what the best thing you could possibly do is in any given moment in time. It is there for a reason and it’s amazing how many times all of us decide not to listen to it. I’d be willing to bet that you have already had that voice come in, maybe more than once, telling you what to do, but you have ignored it for one reason or another. And usually when you don’t trust your gut you end up suffering for days, weeks, months, even years depending on what it is. Yes, I’m speaking from experience. I think all of us can relate to this in one way or another 🙂

Conditioning & Fear Will Creep On Your Dreams

I said above that it’s actually pretty easy, but sometimes it can be really hard to see your passion clearly and act on it. The reason it can be so challenging sometimes is because of all the noise that comes in after your initial voice tells you what you truly want.

What is “Noise”? Noise can be a number of things. Noise can the conditioning you have from when you were younger and your parents always told you that you would make a great financial adviser or doctor, but really you’ve always wanted to be an actor, singer, musician, or a clown, who knows? That conditioning comes in and says that you should get a real job, or start building your career, or get something stable, etc.

Noise can also be the fears that come after your true voice tells you what you really want to do. For example you want to try some business opportunity, but then you have fear of wasting your time or money or not succeeding or actually succeeding and then having responsibility that you don’t want to deal with. If you focus on something that you are truly interested in, and you identify what you want and draw yourself a map of the steps to take to get it, all the fears and conditioning holding you back will fade away as you pursue your dreams.

So maybe you’re saying,

“That all sounds great Sean, but I don’t know what the hell I want to do. That’s why I’m reading your article. I don’t know what business to focus on or what job I want to take or if I want to just be a vagabond and travel the world. I can’t seem to narrow that down to know what to do.”

Steps to Finding Your Passion (Hint, there’s really only two)

These steps might seem so basic and simple, but many times we make things so much more difficult than they need to be. Guys, this is probably one of the most important things you will ever do in your life that many people never take the time to do so take this seriously and take the time needed to do this. It can change your life forever. Keep it simple and you will be chilling before you know it!

Is Playing an Instrument Something You Really Love...

Is Playing an Instrument Something You Really Love To Do…

Step 1: Identify What You Like or Love.

Do you like to travel, do you like working out, do you like photography, do you love to play an instrument, do you love building chicken coops (Yes, I know of a guy that loves to do that and makes a full-time income teaching other people how to build chicken coops online), do you love a certain type of dog or cat or other animal, do you love purses and shoes and clothes more than anything, do you really, really love nature, do you really like to write and if so, what do you like to write about, do you love different colored trippy candles(who knows, it’s possible), are you really interested in how the human body works, are you completely fanatical about some show on TV, are you completely insane over some professional sports team, do you love to cook or bake, and the list goes on to infinity.

Only you know the things that you are truly interested in. The first step is to identify those things by simply writing them all down. Most people don’t even do this, don’t sell yourself short. Grab a pen and paper or your computer or smartphone, and start writing.

Grab a pen and piece of paper or your computer or smartphone and start writing down all the things that immediately come to mind. Be honest with yourself when creating this list; don’t write down things that you think would be good to be interested in, write down the first things that come to mind. Just start writing and come up with a list of at least 10 things you are really interested in. Once you have your list head to Step 2. (You can always add to this list later, don’t think about this too much, just start writing and the truth will be revealed)

Step 2: Look at your interests and find jobs that focus on that interest or create your own business focusing on the interest (preferably online)

With the power of the internet it is amazing how fast you can do research to narrow things down. It’s also amazing how fast you can get sidetracked by all the shit on the Internet so stay focused peeps! Start with the first interest you wrote down on your list and think about the jobs you could do that focus on that interest and write those down. If you can’t think of any, or you’ve already done that, go to Google and type jobs focusing on x or make money with x (replace x with your interest). Just see what comes up and you can reword your search as needed.

Side note: Even if the first thing you wrote on your list of interests is something like porn, or smoking weed, or whatever it is. I don’t care, research it and find out what the possibilities are. Just listen to your instinct about whether that interest is something you would truly want to focus on every day, something that would be truly be healthy for you, and if it is something you could possibly see yourself building a legitimate business around.

The Holy Grail Now Available to All of Us: Making Money Online

This brings me to another important point that I cannot stress enough. This point has to do with the question, How to make money online? I have to address this because you need to know that is completely possible and amazing that you can make a full-time income online doing or talking about whatever it is that you love most.

I know people making a nice full-time income right now just from a simple fan page they created on Facebook that focuses on a sports team or type of dog or even something like surfing. I mentioned above the guy that loves making chicken coups and he created a simple website and a simple e-book that shows others how to build a chicken coup and he sells that book and makes a full time income from it. The list is endless on things that you can talk about online that other people really want to know about. The best part is that there are some simple tools you can use to find out exactly what people are searching for online so that you don’t waste any time creating something that no one is looking for.

So Step Two is to do a little research on Google and find out what types of jobs you might be able to apply for that focus on your interest. You can also just Google your interest and you will see all the stuff that comes up. There is a reason all that stuff is coming up, it’s because people are searching for it and the smart ones know that, and basically provide what everyone is looking for. You can do the same exact thing! You can focus on what you are interested in and help other people that are interested in that same thing!

Once you see your interests in front of you and then you see the possible jobs available that focus on those interests, things will start to become much clearer for you. Please take the time to do this and please be completely honest with yourself about your interests. Just write the first things that come to mind and don’t let that noise get in the way.

If you take these steps (there are only 2), you will start to identify your true passions and then you will be able to narrow down what you want to do.

You Got Skills, Give Yourself Credit

The last thing is, give yourself more credit. Some people give themselves a little too much credit; I bet you can think of one or two right now and laugh, but most of us don’t give ourselves enough credit. You have more knowledge than you think. You have more training than you realize. Even if you have a hobby that you’ve had for only a few months, there’s a good chance you know way more about that hobby or interest than many people that want to learn about it, and it is possible that you can help those people based on your recent experiences and get paid to do it.

Finding your passion in life doesn’t have to be tough, it doesn’t have to be painful, and it can actually be really fun to do. By doing the simple steps above and taking this seriously you will probably uncover some things you did not see clearly before and you might just get to know yourself a little better too.

If you have any questions or feedback on this topic, definitely share it in the comments! And good luck on your quest! The clear picture is waiting and ready for you…
